Biography
Ms Smitha K. is currently working as an Assistant Professor in Lloyd Law College, Greater Noida. She has experience of more than 20 years of in academics as well as in national and international non-governmental organizations. Ms Smitha is currently pursuing her PhD. in Sociology from Mother Teresa women’s University, Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu. Her thesis topic is “Reproductive Health Rights and Equality among the Women of Kudumbashree Mission in the selected districts of Kerala”. She has her Masters in Social Work (2000; Calicut University, Kerala with the First Rank) as well as in Sociology (2002; Calicut University, Kerala). She received her bachelor's degree (BSc. Psychology) from Kerala University in 1998 with the second rank. Before starting her career in academics, Ms Smitha worked with various non-governmental organizations. Her area of interest majorly focuses on issues of women, their development and related policies and programs and their implications. She also has a keen interest and experience in psychology and counselling.
Vision
Ms Smitha’s vision is to provide unconditional support to the students in realising their potential and hidden talents to ensure success in both their professional as well as personal life. She also believes in inculcating values, social sensitiveness and the mentality to serve the people.
Experience
Ms Smitha began her career in early 2002, as a PGT in Sociology at Sri Sarada Girls Higher Secondary School, Thrissur, Kerala. She worked there until 2006, for four years in this position wherein she taught senior secondary students. Then she joined Society for Advancement of Village Economy, Delhi as Project Director in 2006 and worked there for three years handling the implementations of various projects. In February 2009 she joined as District Programme manager for the district of North-East Delhi, under Samajik Suvidha Sangam- a Project of Govt. of NCT Delhi and continued her service there till September 2012. Before joining Lloyd Law college in 2014 Ms Smitha also worked as a consultant with the Ministries of Home Affairs as well as the Ministry of Panchyati Raj
